Under the motto “Innovative? Excellent!”, the Innovationspreis Thüringen 2021 was presented today.

The award recognizes outstanding innovations from Thuringia and the people behind them. The competition shines a spotlight on innovative achievements, publishes success stories and supports networking in Thuringia and beyond.

The prize is jointly offered by the Thuringian Ministry of Economy, Business and Digital Society, the Foundation for Technology, Innovation and Research Thuringia (STIFT), TÜV Thüringen e.V. and the Ernst Abbe Foundation. The competition is under the patronage of Wolfgang Tiefensee, Thuringia’s Minister for Economics, Science and Digital Society.

Among this year’s winners is a start-up that is more than familiar to us. Polytives GmbH, alumni of TRIP Class 20/21, was honored in the category “Special Award for Young Companies” and awarded €20,000 in prize money.

The start-up develops novel additives for plastics. The innovative additives are based on the use of (highly) branched polymers, which can be used to adjust material properties such as viscosity, polymerization shrinkage or elasticity. The additives produced by Polytives can be used in a variety of ways – wherever vinyl-based monomers serve as starting materials. In addition, the plastic additives open up completely new possibilities in processing, as they master challenges that conventional additives or production processes are unable to meet.

We wish Polytives our heartfelt congratulations and raise our glasses!
